I love competition and have a friend who feels the same way. We got into an argument about how fast the fastest person in the world can run which turned into which one of us was faster. After going behind the alley of our apartment complex, the race was on for a little bit, until I slipped on a curb and smacked my face in the ground. The surprise of the whole thing left me stunned and not really in pain as the warm blood covered the right side of my head.

We cleaned it, got some liquid band-aid in there and a week later it is healing up pretty nice. There is no doubt it is going to scar right near the end of my eyebrow. To save face, pun intended, I’m looking for skin creams to fade a scar. There are a lot to choose from online. The skin creams in my bathroom are only good for moisture. I’ve been told aloe or coco butter skin creams will do the trick. Let’s hope so.

More of shower guy now but those days of bubble bath nights after a long day learning how to multiply and who Christopher Columbus was still resonate in my mind. In one of the houses I grew up in, my parent’s bathroom had a big Jacuzzi tub surrounded by a tile counter that for whatever reason attracted lady bugs. I loved hopping in the tub, squeezing huge gobs of bubble path underneath the running facet and watching as the clouds of tear free solution built up.

After the tub was filled, I’d grab a couple rubber and plastic boats and go hunting for lady bugs on the side. After catching a few into the boat they went where I sailed them around the sea of bubble bath. I don’t know why this memory is so vivid but it is and one that pops into my head every once in awhile. I wonder if the new owners of the house have the same lady bug problem upstairs.

My mother was showing me a really cool and intricate fragrance perfume bottle that she got from her mother, that was dated all the way back to the early 30s—way back when fragrance perfume was something that only the very wealthy could afford. That being said, it made me easily understand why the fragrance perfume bottle was decadent. These days you can find some pretty sleek looking bottles, especially on the higher end, designer brands. However, I have never seen such a pretty bottle. It is made from real silver and has the most intricate designs on it. I cannot even imagine what it is worth if one were to appraise it today. However, the sentimental value is easily recognized to my mother: a priceless family heirloom that was handed down to her by my grandmother!

This morning when I woke up, I looked outside and saw that the predictions were true, we indeed found ourselves with a whole lot of snow. Because I'm originally from the South, and we don't see much snow, I can't help but get excited when I see the beautiful white stuff. It's a rare day that I want to leave the comfort of my warm bed in the cold of winter, but when I saw the snow, I jumped out of bed, tossed on some clothes and out in the snow I went. I knew I needed a bubble bath, but I decided that it could come later; first I wanted to play in the snow.

I walked around for a while, tossed snowballs at some of the local children, and fed the ducks some old bread. I had this idea but didn’t know what to look for online. There are so many scents and skin creams within digital stores. I had to enlist the help of a female friend. She was a life saver. When she hopped on the computer, it was like minute before she found something and said, “These skin creams will smell delightful.” That word sold me and within another minute, I was closing the browser after buying.

Buying women’s skin creams is a much harder process then buying a winter moisturizer for myself. All the scents, bottle shapes, words like “fabulous”, it comes down to asking for help. I have no problem going off the advice of a friend’s advice especially when it is a present for a woman.

It snows up in the mountains but not in the Southern California city center I live in. Last week, we were lucky enough to see a few days of rain but other then that there isn’t much moisture in the air. At night, the air is cold and dry. For me, this is the perfect storm for dry skin. That is why this time of the year lathering on skin creams really helps. There is nothing more annoying then dry skin. It is uncomfortable, unattractive and frustrating.

Over the years, I have found the skin creams that work the best. Like most things, price matters when shopping for skin creams. Generally, the more expensive moisturizers work the best. That is it why I look online for my skin creams. Saving a few bucks here and there makes skin cream purchases much easier to justify. This time of the year, I am looking for all the different ways to cut costs in order to keep cash for gifts and time off work. Shopping online is one of the tools in my arsenal.

This morning when I got up, I noticed that my favorite bottle of bubble bath was lying beside the tub and half of it was missing.  I knew that I’d used the bubble bath the night before, but I also knew that I had not used much of it and most certainly not half of it.  I had ordered it about two weeks before and had only had it in house about three days.  When I walked into the living room, I noticed that my son was blow drying the dog, who was lying in front of the fireplace.  I paused for a moment and knew then what had happened.  I asked my son what he used to bathe the dog with, and he said that he used the pink bottle of bubble bath that he saw on the side of the tub.  As much as I wanted to, I couldn’t get angry at him, because he’d heard me mention that the dog needed a bath, and within 24 hours he’d given the dog a bath, even if it meant he’d used my new bubble bath to do so.  I showed him where the dog shampoo was, so that next time he could use it instead.  Looks like I’m going to be placing another order for bubble bath this morning.

This holiday season, I made it easy on myself and decided I'd give all my girlfriends who color their hair luxurious shampoo and conditioner for their hair care. Colored hair needs to be treated a little more gently than normal hair, so I thought it would make a nice gift for them. And it was so easy to do, too. My hairdresser told me about hair care products for colored hair and so I followed up on her recommendation and ordered matching hair care products for them, and happily, they were shipped directly to them from the website.

Most of the women I know who color their hair don't live near me, so shipping was the only way to get these gifts to them. I don't always send them gifts for the holidays, but I thought this year I would since they hosted me several times this summer when I was in their city for business. This past weekend I attended a dinner with a group of friends. We all live in various parts of the state so our chance to get together as a full group is usually limited to once or twice a year, one of which is usually around the holidays. We usually play Secret Santa every year with a date that the person is supposed to have their gift by, but this year someone handed me a gift and said they'd found it on the floor. I couldn't help but laugh at that thought, but the friend assured me that the secret Santa gift was not from her. I decided to wait until I got home to open the package, but the second I walked in the door, the first thing I did was sit down on the sofa and open the gift.

When I opened the box, there was a letter, written as though it were from Santa himself. It talked about how he is busy during the holidays and one of his favorite things to do was fill a tub full of water and add some bubble bath. He said that the bubble bath helps him relax, plus gives him a little time away from the hustle and bustle of the elves. After he finishes using the bubble bath and soaking in the tub, he said he wants to make sure that his skin stays hydrated so he uses skin creams to make sure that it does.

From there he mentions that he pours himself a cup of chocolate and puts his feet up with a pair of his favorite slippers. I loved the letter, and it asked me to open the gifts by number, so when I opened package number one I found some bubble bath and skin creams. Package two contained hot chocolate mix and package three contained some slippers. I loved the idea. In the last package was the name of the person who the gifts were from, and I couldn't wait until morning, so I called right then.

She said I must have the wrong person, and then she finally confessed after I mentioned that she had put her name inside the package. ]]> Mon, 23 Nov 2009 19:26:38 GMT <![CDATA[Whatever Happened to Bubble Bath]]>  Possibly one of my favorite past time as a little kid was coming home from elementary school, eating dinner and then retiring to the tub with some plastic boats, army figurines and bubble bath. My mom has a few great pictures of my brother and I as toddlers throwing bubble bath frothing clouds over each other while splashing it up inside the tub. Talk about easy to entertain. My mom looks very kindly back at these years and lucky for us they are all frozen in time in her many photo albums.

 I honestly can’t remember the last time I had a bubble bath. I haven’t had a bath tub since moving away from home so go figure. It would be pretty awkward even for me, a 6’3 tall guy to scrunch into some Luke warm bath water surrounded by bubble bath but it would make for some pretty funny pictures. I’m more of a shower guy now. What someone needs to come up with is a shower head that shoots out bubble bath. Now that would be fun.
